Bi-hex socket with a 1/2" square drive and 14 mm socket size, designed for use with torque wrenches, ratchets and extension bars in the 1/2" drive standard.
The 1/2" (12.7 mm) standard is the most popular size for workshop and industrial applications. It is compatible with most torque wrenches, ratchets and accessories on the market. It transmits torque across a range from a few dozen to several hundred Nm.
The bi-hex internal profile provides a larger contact area with the nut or bolt than a single-hex profile. It allows work in positions with a limited turning angle (every 30 degrees instead of every 60 degrees), which makes it easier to work in confined assembly spaces.
The 14 mm size is used for medium-sized bolted joints, common in automotive applications (suspension, braking systems, engine components), industrial machinery and steel structures. It is one of the standard sizes in socket sets.
YATO sockets are made from CrV (chrome vanadium) alloy steel, which reaches a hardness of 38-42 HRC after heat treatment. This provides resistance to abrasion, deformation and cracking under load, while maintaining sufficient flexibility to prevent the material from becoming brittle.

Before use, check that the socket size matches the nut or bolt. The 14 mm socket is intended for hex head or bi-hex bolts with a 14 mm spanner size. Clearances greater than 0.2-0.3 mm may indicate a size mismatch.
When using a torque wrench, use a socket of the appropriate length, as extension bars can affect torque measurement accuracy. The socket should be pushed fully onto the square drive, and after use the torque setting on the wrench should be reduced to its minimum.
After use, clean the socket of dirt and oil residue. Occasional light lubrication of the square drive prevents corrosion and makes it easier to fit onto the tool. Storing it in a dry place, ideally in organisers or on magnetic rails, prevents mechanical damage.
