The 1/2 inch breaker bar with a swivel head is a workshop tool designed to transfer torque in confined working spaces. Made from chrome vanadium steel, model YT-1242 offers a working length of 457 mm, which translates into increased leverage when undoing heavily tightened fasteners.
The chrome and vanadium alloy increases hardness and wear resistance. The 50BV30 designation indicates an alloy composition that provides flexibility together with resistance to torsional loads, which minimises the risk of cracking during intensive use.
The extended arm increases mechanical leverage, reducing the hand pressure required by approximately 40% compared with a 250 mm breaker bar. An important factor when undoing bolted connections tightened to more than 100 Nm.
The swivel mechanism allows the working angle to be changed through approximately 180 degrees, which makes work possible in confined spaces. The locking ball holds the socket in the drive by means of spring pressure, preventing it from slipping off during handling.
The ergonomically shaped grip increases the contact area with the hand, reducing pressure points. The oxidised surface provides anti-slip properties even in contact with oil or grease.

The breaker bar works with all sockets with a 1/2 inch drive that complies with DIN 3120 and ISO 1174. It is suitable for impact, deep, standard and specialist sockets (e.g. Torx, hex). The maximum recommended torque depends on the length and type of the socket.
Before starting work, check the condition of the locking ball in the drive. A worn or missing ball can cause the socket to fall out under load. The swivel mechanism requires periodic lubrication with lithium grease at the pivot point.
After use, it is worth cleaning the surface of dirt and applying corrosion protection, particularly after contact with moisture. Storing the tool in a dry place extends its service life. Do not use the breaker bar as an extension for a hammer or as a lever for lifting loads.
Regularly inspect the head for cracks, particularly where it joins the handle. Check for play in the swivel mechanism – excessive play of more than 5 degrees may indicate wear of the pivot pin. Make sure the locking ball moves freely when the socket is pressed on.
