Hook and loop sanding discs designed for rapid sanding of wood, metal and plastics. The P40 grit delivers aggressive material removal when stripping rust, paint and surface unevenness.
P40 grit (approximately 425 micrometres) is designed for aggressive sanding and removing thicker layers of material. Used in the first stage of surface preparation, it quickly levels out unevenness, strips old paint coatings and prepares the substrate for subsequent finishing.
The hook and loop (Velcro) attachment lets you change the disc in seconds without any additional tools. The hook and loop backing holds the disc firmly in place during use while allowing repeated fitting and removal. Compatible with orbital and random orbital sanders fitted with a 125 mm hook and loop backing pad.
125 mm discs are the most popular size for professional and workshop applications. This size provides an optimum working surface while maintaining control of the tool, and performs well on both larger flat areas and more precise work.
The disc design makes it suitable for hard and soft wood, structural steel, aluminium and plastics. The abrasive grain stays sharp across different materials, so a single disc type can handle a wide range of tasks in the workshop.

P40 discs are used as the first stage on surfaces that require aggressive material removal. After using them, move on to finer grits (P80, P120, P180) to achieve a smooth surface. Painting or varnishing directly after sanding with P40 will leave visible scratches – finishing with fine-grit discs is essential.
Before fitting a disc, check that the sander's hook and loop backing pad is clean – contamination weakens the grip. Avoid applying excessive pressure during use, as this overheats the grain and reduces abrasive performance. Store discs in a dry place, away from moisture, which can weaken the paper backing.
A worn disc is easy to recognise by a clear drop in sanding performance, a glossy working surface and visible grain wear. Continuing to use a worn disc overheats the material and puts extra strain on the sander's motor. Regular disc changes keep work efficient and safe.
