A hex socket with a 1/4" drive and a 13 mm socket size in a deep version, designed for use with ratchets and torque wrenches in the 1/4" drive system.
The 1/4" (6.35 mm) drive system is the standard for precision tools. Compatible with 1/4" ratchets, spinner handles and adaptors, it is used mainly for work requiring lower torque, typically up to 50 Nm.
The deep version of the socket provides access to fasteners set in recesses, mounting holes or behind other components. The extra length makes working in confined spaces easier, without the need for extension bars.
The 13 mm socket is one of the most commonly used sizes in automotive and mechanical work. It is used on M8 bolts and nuts found in electrical installations, body panel fixings, brackets and mechanical fittings.
The internal six-point profile provides six points of contact with the fastener, spreading the load evenly and minimising the risk of damage to the edges of the bolt or nut during tightening.

Before use, make sure that the ratchet or wrench has a 1/4" drive and that the torque will not exceed the permissible values for the 1/4" drive system. For M8 bolts the recommended tightening torque is typically 20-25 Nm, depending on the material and the application.
Hex sockets need regular cleaning to remove contaminants and lubrication of the drive square so that they seat correctly in the ratchet. After working in a damp environment or after contact with corrosive substances, dry the tool and protect it with an anti-corrosion agent.
When using the sockets, avoid employing them as lever extensions or hammers. Exceeding the permissible torque may damage both the socket and the fastener. Deep sockets are more prone to bending under excessive side load.
