32mm Tap Hole Cutter YT-21956 YATO

A tool for cutting mounting holes in steel and stainless steel sheet, designed for fitting taps and mixers in sinks and worktops. Made from 40Cr steel with two cutting blades, the cutter delivers precise cutting without the need for a pilot hole.

Features of the YATO Tap Hole Cutter

40Cr Tool Steel

40Cr is a chromium steel with an elevated carbon content, known for its increased resistance to abrasion. Blades made from this material retain their sharpness through repeated cutting of sheet up to 3 mm thick.

48-52 HRC Hardness

The Rockwell hardness rating determines a material's resistance to penetration. The 48-52 HRC range provides a balance between blade hardness and resistance to chipping of the cutting edge when working with metal.

Two Cutting Blades

The twin-blade design, arranged symmetrically about the axis of the mounting bolt, reduces vibration during cutting and ensures an even load on the tool. The result is a clean hole with no burrs requiring additional finishing.

10 mm Bolt Diameter

The M10 thread allows the cutter to be fitted in standard drills and drivers equipped with a suitable adaptor. The thickness of the bolt ensures stability during use and eliminates tool run-out.

Applications of the 32 mm Cutter

  • Fitting sink mixers in steel and stainless steel sheet
  • Cutting tap holes in steel kitchen worktops
  • Installing soap and detergent dispensers in sinks
  • Preparing mounting holes in steel baths and washbasins
  • Installation work in industrial and commercial kitchens
  • Adapting sinks to mixers of non-standard diameters
  • Repair and upgrading of plumbing installations

Tool Compatibility

The cutter requires the use of a drill or driver with variable speed control. Recommended speed: 300-500 rpm for stainless steel, 500-800 rpm for steel sheet. Cutting fluid should be used for cooling when cutting materials more than 2 mm thick.

Use and Maintenance

Before starting work, mark the centre of the intended hole and secure the material in a vice or a stable clamp. Guide the cutter with a steady, moderate feed pressure, avoiding sudden forcing of the tool. After cutting, clean the blades of metal swarf and protect them with protective oil.

Blunting of the blades shows as increased resistance during cutting and the formation of burrs on the edge of the hole. The blades can be sharpened with a fine-grained diamond whetstone, maintaining the original sharpening angle. During sharpening, cool the material so that the temper is not lost.

Workplace Safety

Protective gloves and goggles should be worn when working with the cutter. The workpiece must be securely clamped. Do not use the tool to cut materials more than 3 mm thick or with a hardness above 200 HB without adequate cooling.
