A hex socket with a 3/4" drive and a 27 mm size, intended for professional workshop and industrial applications. A YATO product made from chrome vanadium steel.
The 3/4" (19.05 mm) figure refers to the size of the square drive that the socket fits onto. This is a standard used for heavy-duty work requiring high torques – typically in a vehicle workshop on wheels, suspension or exhaust systems. It requires the use of a ratchet or torque wrench with a matching drive.
The parameter specifies the width across the hexagon inside the socket. A 27 mm size corresponds to M16-M18 bolts and nuts, often used in steel structures, industrial machinery and the running gear of heavy goods vehicles. Before buying, verify the bolt head size with a calliper.
The material provides increased hardness and wear resistance while retaining flexibility, which protects against cracking under load. Chrome vanadium steel (Cr-V) is characterised by corrosion resistance and by retaining its mechanical properties under intensive workshop use.
The internal hex profile spreads the force across six points of contact instead of two (as with an open-ended spanner), minimising the risk of damage to the bolt corners. This is particularly important when undoing rusted or over-tightened fasteners.

The socket requires a ratchet, torque wrench or universal joint with a 3/4" drive. Before use, check that the drive square of the tool matches the 19.05 mm dimension. 3/4" tools are not compatible with 1/2" (12.7 mm) or 1" (25.4 mm) sockets without the use of suitable adaptors.
When working with 3/4" sockets, personal protective equipment should be worn – mechanical gloves and safety glasses. Before use, check the condition of the socket – cracks or deformation of the profile can lead to damage to the bolt or injury.
After use, clean the socket of any contamination and protect it from moisture. Storage in dedicated organisers or on magnetic rails prevents mechanical damage and makes it easier to identify the size. Regular lubrication of the drive square extends the service life of the tool and prevents it from seizing on the ratchet.
When using a torque wrench with a 27 mm socket, follow the recommendations of the vehicle or structure manufacturer. Typical torques for M16-M18 bolts in automotive applications are 150-250 Nm, while in steel structures they may reach 300-400 Nm. Exceeding the recommended torque can lead to thread damage or bolt failure.
