A swivel castor with a polypropylene body, 50 mm in diameter, fitted with ball bearings and a mounting plate. Designed for fitting to workshop furniture, trolleys and mobile structures that need manoeuvring in confined spaces.
The 360° swivel mechanism with ball bearings allows smooth manoeuvring without excessive resistance. The bearings reduce friction during swivelling, which means less wear on the mechanism and quieter operation compared with plain bushes.
Polypropylene (PP) is resistant to impact, moisture and most chemicals used in workshops. The material does not rust and retains its properties at temperatures from -10°C to +60°C, so it can be used in unheated rooms.
A compact size intended for light mobile structures weighing up to 15-20 kg per castor (depending on the manufacturer). 50 mm castors are the right choice where a low mounting height matters and where small thresholds and uneven floors have to be negotiated.
The mounting plate with bolt holes allows the castor to be screwed securely to wood, chipboard, metal or plastic. Check the plate dimensions and hole spacing before purchase to make sure they are compatible with the intended structure.

Before fitting, check the castor's maximum load capacity in the manufacturer's technical documentation. The total weight of the structure together with its load should be distributed evenly across all castors, with a safety margin of at least 20%. Where the load is unevenly distributed, castors with a higher load capacity should be used.
The mounting plate dimensions and hole spacing must match the structure to which the castor is being fitted. Check the thickness of the base material as well – very thin panels may need additional reinforcement at the mounting point. Fixing screws should be chosen to suit the type of material and the load.
Polypropylene castors do not require lubrication, but the swivel mechanism should be cleaned periodically to remove dust, swarf and other contaminants that could restrict rotation. In dusty environments, the condition of the bearings should be checked every 3-6 months.
Castors should not be overloaded beyond their stated load capacity, nor used on surfaces with sharp edges that could damage the polypropylene wheel. Where the castor is used on uneven surfaces, larger diameter castors are recommended for better stability.
