Brass pump head with a 6 mm thread, designed for inflating sports and leisure equipment and household items. Fitted with a stabilising catch that ensures a secure connection to Dunlop and Presta valves.

Stabilising catch

Application limitations
The head is not intended for inflating motor vehicle tyres, because of the high working pressure required and the different valve standard used in the automotive sector.

Compatibility with valve types
The 6 mm threaded head works with the two main types of valve used on sports and leisure equipment:
Dunlop valve
Common on city and touring bikes. It has an outside diameter of approximately 8 mm and is usually 40–50 mm long. The valve nut must be tightened before inflating.
Presta valve (French valve)
Used on road and mountain bikes. Narrower than the Dunlop valve (approximately 6 mm in diameter), it requires the small nut on top to be unscrewed before inflating. It allows precise pressure setting.
Before first use, check the valve type on the equipment to be inflated. Automotive (Schrader) valves require a different type of head because of their different design and the working pressure required.
Use and maintenance
When fitting the head onto the valve, tighten the catch by hand until you feel resistance. Excessive tightening force may damage the valve thread. Once inflation is complete, release the catch before removing the head.
The brass construction requires no special maintenance. Periodic checks of the thread and the catch mechanism are recommended. If the head comes into contact with salt water or chlorinated water, rinse it with clean water and dry it.
Storing the head in a dry place prevents contaminants from building up in the thread. Before an extended period out of use, the thread can be protected with a thin layer of technical grease.
