9 mm segmented blade
A 9 mm width is the standard for light cutting work. The blade is made up of segments that can be snapped off once blunt, giving a fresh cutting edge without having to replace the whole blade. One segment provides around 5–8 cuts, depending on the material.
Segment snapping mechanism
Worn segments are removed by snapping them off in a special mechanism at the rear of the handle, or with pliers. This removes the need for additional tools and shortens the time needed to prepare the knife for use.

Use and Maintenance
Replacing blade segments
When the blade becomes blunt, extend it fully, release the snapping mechanism at the rear of the handle and snap off the end segment. Once it has been snapped off, retract the blade to its working position. A standard 9 mm blade has 8–13 segments, depending on its length.
Replacing the whole blade
The blade is replaced entirely once all the segments have been used. In most designs this involves undoing the retaining screw on the handle or sliding the slider out and removing the used blade. The new blade is inserted from the slider end.
Safe working practices
When cutting, always move the knife away from your body, use a cutting mat and secure the material so it cannot slip. After use, retract the blade fully into the handle and lock it. Personal protective equipment must be used in line with the risk assessment.
