The GEKO G02911E M5 aluminium rivet nuts are cylindrical threaded inserts with a flat head, designed to create a thread in thin-gauge materials from 0.5 to 2.5 mm thick. They allow durable threaded joints to be made where access to the rear of the material is impossible or restricted.
Aluminium is characterised by its low weight and its natural resistance to atmospheric corrosion. This makes the rivet nuts suitable both for indoor use and in environments with high humidity, with no risk of the joint rusting.
The knurling on the side of the body stops the rivet nut rotating in the hole while the bolt is tightened. This is particularly important where parts are assembled and dismantled repeatedly, when the torque could work the installed insert loose.
The flat head sits evenly against the surface of the material, which reduces the risk of damaging it during setting. It also provides a stable seating and distributes the pressure evenly around the edge of the mounting hole.
This parameter defines the thickness of the panel in which the rivet nut will clamp correctly. Material thinner than 0.5 mm or thicker than 2.5 mm will not provide a proper seating — check the thickness of the workpiece before installation.

Rivet nuts are used wherever a thread has to be created in thin-gauge material that cannot be accessed from behind. Typical applications include:
Setting M5 rivet nuts requires a hand or pneumatic rivet nut tool designed for rivet nuts (a rivnut setter). Standard blind rivet guns are not compatible with this type of fastener. Before buying, make sure that your rivet nut tool handles the M5 size.
The installation procedure consists of drilling a hole of the diameter appropriate for the chosen rivet nut size, inserting the rivet nut into the hole and then setting it with a rivet nut tool. As the rear of the body deforms, the rivet nut is permanently locked into the material, leaving a ready M5 thread to accept a bolt.
