American-pattern bent long nose pliers are a versatile tool combining gripping, holding and wire cutting functions. Model 40015 has a working length of 160 mm and a bent jaw design that allows work in hard-to-reach places and at an angle.
The angle of the bent jaws provides access to components positioned at an angle or in recesses. Particularly useful for electrical work in installation boxes and during assembly in confined spaces.
The serrations ensure a secure grip on components of various shapes and surfaces. Integrated wire cutting edges allow soft copper and aluminium wire to be cut without changing tools.
The 160 mm size strikes a balance between gripping force and precision. It provides sufficient leverage for gripping and cutting while maintaining control of the tool during precision work.
The plastic grips reduce hand fatigue during prolonged work and improve grip. They provide basic insulation, but do not offer protection for live working.

American-pattern pliers are distinguished by a specific jaw design with three working zones: a flat gripping surface at the front, a serrated area in the middle and cutting edges near the pivot. This construction allows one tool to be used universally for a range of operations.
The bent jaws of model 40015 further increase functionality, allowing work at an angle without having to twist the wrist. This reduces fatigue during tasks involving repetitive movements.
The plastic handle grips provide basic insulation only. These pliers are not certified for live working. For such applications, use tools with VDE insulation rated for 1000 V AC.
After use, clean the pliers of dirt and material residue. The pivot should be lubricated periodically with a thin film of machine oil, which keeps operation smooth and protects against corrosion. Wire cutting edges blunt over time – they can be sharpened with a fine file or the tool can be replaced.
The pliers should be stored in a dry place. Moisture can cause corrosion of metal parts and degradation of the plastic grips. Avoid storing under load, which could distort the jaws.
