A brass euro cylinder 72 mm long with a 6-pin system, designed for standard cylinder locks. The brass construction provides resistance to corrosion and mechanical damage in everyday use.
A 31/41 mm split means the distance from the centre of the cylinder to the outside of the door is 31 mm, and to the inside 41 mm. Before buying, measure the door thickness and the distance from the edge to the centre of the cylinder hole to ensure a correct fit.
The cylinder uses a system with six pin chambers, which increases the number of possible combinations compared with simpler 5-pin systems. The greater number of pins makes the lock harder to open by manipulation techniques.
Brass offers natural resistance to atmospheric corrosion and good mechanical properties. This material does not rust and remains operational under varying humidity conditions, which matters when it is fitted to doors exposed to the weather.
The cylinder fits standard mortice and rim locks with a 17 mm cylinder hole. It works well with most popular lock models used on residential and office doors, as well as on gates and side gates.

To choose the right cylinder size, measure the distance from the centre of the cylinder hole (where the fixing screw sits) to the outside edge of the door and to the inside edge. On a 31/41 mm cylinder the total is 72 mm, where 31 mm is the measurement from the centre to one side and 41 mm to the other.
Fitting involves inserting the cylinder into the hole in the lock and securing it with the fixing screw from the side of the lock. Before tightening the screw, check that the cylinder turns freely and does not catch on any part of the lock. Once fitted, test the key in both positions.
The cylinder mechanism needs periodic lubrication with graphite-based products or specialist lock treatments. Do not use oils, which attract dirt and can cause jamming. If the key is difficult to turn, check that no dirt has built up in the keyway.
