Yato YT-47124 brass parallel drift punches - set of 8
A set of eight brass drift punches for precision mechanical, metalworking and modelling work. Turned from hexagonal brass bar, they provide a secure grip and eliminate the risk of damaging the components being worked on.
Features of the Yato brass drift punches
Brass construction
As a working material, brass prevents sparking and damage to the surfaces of the components being assembled. This is particularly important when working on hardened, chrome-plated or polished parts, where steel punches could leave marks.
Hexagonal profile
The body turned from hexagonal bar provides a secure grip and stops the tool rolling across the workbench. The flat surfaces make controlled hammer strikes easier.
Graduated shank diameters
Eight punches with diameters of 1.5, 2.3, 3.2, 3.9, 4.7, 5.5, 6.3 and 7.8 mm cover most workshop applications. They allow the tool to be matched to the diameter of the pin, bush or mounting hole.
Hook-and-loop pouch

Use and safety
Choosing the right punch diameter
The shank diameter should be 0.2-0.5 mm smaller than the diameter of the component being driven out. A punch that is too large may damage the mounting hole, while one that is too small may bend during use. For tightly fitted pins, it is advisable to start with a smaller diameter.
Working technique
The punch should be held square to the axis of the component being driven out. Hammer blows should be controlled and even. As a soft metal, brass requires you to avoid excessive force, which could deform the shank. Extension bars can be used for hard-to-reach components.
Personal protective equipment
When working with drift punches, safety glasses should be worn to protect against flying fragments of material. Protective gloves are advisable when working in enclosed spaces or on painted components.
