Chainsaw chain 3/8" 12" 45 links YT-849474 Yato

Chainsaw chain for petrol and electric saws, made from 65Mn manganese steel. Fitted with an anti-kickback system and a mechanism that reduces vibration when cutting wood.

Chain pitch3/8" (9.52 mm)
Drive link gauge0.043" (1.1 mm)
Number of links45 links
Guide bar length12" (30 cm)

Chainsaw chain features

65Mn manganese steel

The material is characterised by high tensile strength and resistance to mechanical wear. Its manganese content increases the hardness of the cutting edges while keeping the links flexible, which translates into a longer service life for the chain without the need for replacement.

Semi-chisel tooth

The design of the cutting tooth strikes a balance between cutting speed and resistance to blunting. The semi-chisel profile performs well in clean and moderately contaminated wood, holding its edge longer than a full-chisel tooth.

Anti-kickback system

Specially shaped bumper links limit sudden kickback when the nose of the guide bar comes into contact with the material. This mechanism reduces the risk of losing control of the tool when working in demanding conditions.

Vibration reduced by up to 25%

The tooth geometry and the arrangement of the damping links minimise the vibration transmitted to the guide bar and the saw body. This reduces the strain on the operator's hands and forearms, particularly during many hours of work.

How to check whether a chain is compatible with your saw

Three parameters need to be verified: the chain pitch (the distance between three consecutive rivets divided by two), the drive link gauge (which must match the width of the groove in the guide bar) and the number of links. All of these values must match the saw manufacturer's requirements.

Chainsaw chain applications

  • Cutting hardwood and softwood in forestry work
  • Preparing firewood from trunks and thick branches
  • Pruning and shaping the crowns of fruit trees
  • Removing branches after gales and storms
  • Cutting structural components from construction timber
  • Tidying work in gardens and parks
  • Preparing material for carpentry work
  • Clearing shrubs and small trees

Use and maintenance

The chain needs to be tensioned regularly in accordance with the saw's instructions. Correct tension is achieved when the drive links remain seated in the guide bar groove but the chain can still be pulled round by hand without excessive resistance. A chain that is too loose can jump off the guide bar, while one that is too tight wears faster and puts extra load on the engine.

The automatic lubrication system requires the oil level to be checked before starting work. Chain oil provides adequate lubrication for the links and reduces friction in the guide bar groove. A lack of lubrication leads to overheating of the chain and damage to the guide bar.

The cutting teeth should be sharpened regularly with a 4.8 mm round file, maintaining a sharpening angle of 30 degrees. Uneven wear on the teeth causes the saw to cut at an angle and increases the strain on the operator. The depth gauges need to be filed down periodically to maintain the correct height difference relative to the cutting edge.

Safety at work

Before each use, check the condition of the chain, the guide bar and the tensioning system. Working with a blunt chain increases the risk of kickback and requires greater pressure, which leads to faster fatigue. When changing the chain, the saw must be disconnected from the power supply or have the ignition switched off.
