Checking compatibility
Before purchase, check that the guide bar parameters match those of the chain and the chainsaw. If any of these do not match, correct fitting will not be possible.
Use and maintenance
The guide bar requires regular lubrication during use. Check the condition of the guide groove and the sprocket nose for wear. Even groove wear is achieved by rotating the bar through 180° every few hours of use. After finishing work, clean the groove of debris and resin residue.
Fitting the guide bar requires correct chain tension – the drive links should move freely in the groove, but the chain should not hang more than 3-4 mm away from the underside of the bar. A chain that is too loose may come off, while one that is too tight wears more quickly.
