SDS Max chasing chisel with a diameter of 35 mm, designed for cutting chases in concrete, reinforced concrete and brick using rotary hammers. Made from hardened steel, the tool is designed for installation and construction work requiring precise chasing in hard materials.
The SDS Max mounting system allows quick fitting in higher-power rotary hammers. A shank with a larger diameter than standard SDS Plus transfers higher torque and impact forces, which translates into more efficient chasing in high-strength materials. Before buying, check whether your hammer has an SDS Max shank rather than SDS Plus.
The 35 mm working diameter allows a chase wide enough for most electrical and plumbing installations. This width accommodates standard flush-mounted back boxes and cable bundles while minimising disruption to the wall structure. For narrower chases, smaller-diameter chasing chisels are available.
The overall length of 380 mm provides adequate reach while maintaining control of the tool. The working length allows chases deep enough for typical concealed installations. A design of this length reduces the risk of the tool overheating during intensive work.
The steel hardening process increases the hardness of the chasing chisel's working surface, extending the time the cutting edges stay sharp. Hardened steel reduces wear when working in abrasive materials such as concrete with quartz aggregate or reinforced concrete. A special heat treatment minimises the risk of the tool cracking under impact.

The chasing chisel requires a rotary hammer with an SDS Max shank. It is not compatible with SDS Plus hammers due to differences in diameter and mounting system. Check the shank marking in your hammer's operating instructions before buying. SDS Max hammers are more powerful (above 5 kg) and are designed for heavier demolition and drilling work.
Before starting work, check that the chasing chisel is correctly seated in the SDS Max shank by trying to pull the tool out without pressing the release ring. When chasing, work in hammer mode with rotation, avoiding excessive pressure, which can cause the tool to overheat.
Materials such as reinforced concrete require particular care due to the presence of steel reinforcement. Contact with reinforcing bars can damage the chasing chisel's cutting edges. In such cases, it is advisable to locate the reinforcement beforehand with a metal detector and adjust the chase route accordingly.
After finishing work, clean the chasing chisel of concrete dust and material residue. Regularly cleaning the SDS Max shank grooves prevents the build-up of dirt that could make fitting difficult. Storing in a dry place protects the steel from corrosion. If the cutting edges become noticeably blunt, the tool should be replaced with a new one.
