A clamp meter with auto-ranging, designed for measuring AC/DC voltage up to 600V, AC current up to 600A and resistance up to 20MΩ. The YT-73091 features DATA HOLD and MAX HOLD functions and a backlit LCD display.
The AUTO-RANGE function eliminates the need to change ranges manually. The instrument automatically adjusts to the measured value, which shortens measurement times and reduces the risk of selecting the wrong range and damaging the meter.
Jaws with a 37mm opening allow non-contact measurement of AC current in conductors up to 37mm in diameter. Clamp measurement allows a reading to be taken without breaking the circuit, which improves safety and convenience when working on live installations.
DATA HOLD freezes the current reading on the display, allowing the result to be recorded accurately in hard-to-reach places. MAX HOLD captures and stores the maximum measured value during continuous measurement, which is useful when analysing peak loads.
The diode test function with an IF current of 1mA and a UR voltage of 1.48V allows the polarity and condition of diodes to be checked. The continuity test in the 0-120Ω range with an audible signal allows breaks in cables and connections to be located quickly.

A resolution of 1999 counts means the meter can display values from 0 to 1999 on a given measurement range. Higher resolution translates into a more accurate reading, especially when measuring small values. The backlit display makes it possible to work in poorly lit places such as distribution boards and plant rooms.
Before taking a measurement, make sure the batteries are sufficiently charged – a low charge level can affect measurement accuracy. When measuring current with the clamp, only one conductor should be enclosed in the jaws – clamping the live and neutral conductors at the same time gives a zero reading because the magnetic fields cancel each other out.
Test probes should be checked regularly for insulation damage. Damaged probes pose a risk of electric shock and can lead to incorrect readings. The meter should be stored in the supplied carry case, which protects it from dust and moisture.
The continuity test function only works correctly on circuits that are not live. Before carrying out the test, isolate the power supply and discharge any capacitors. Resistance measurement also requires the component under test to be disconnected from the circuit.
The YT-73091 clamp meter is designed for work on installations with voltages up to 600V AC/DC. Before measuring, check that the measurement range of the instrument is suitable for the value being measured. Overload protection protects the meter from damage, but it does not replace correct selection of the function and measurement range.
