A specialist file designed for cleaning the surfaces of brake calipers and carriers when replacing pads and discs. The slim 10 mm-wide construction allows work in confined spaces, while the double-sided blade combines the function of a coarse file with that of a scraper.
A thickness of just 10 mm allows the tool to be slipped into the narrow gap between the carrier and the brake disc. This is particularly important on vehicles with compact brake systems of the kind found in Japanese designs, where access to the carrier abutment surfaces is severely restricted.
One side of the blade has a coarse diagonal cut for abrading away corrosion and brake dust. The other side acts as a scraper, removing the thicker, compacted deposits that filing alone cannot shift effectively. One tool therefore does the job of two.
The angled arrangement of the teeth helps clear removed material from the blade surface, which reduces clogging during use. The coarse grade means hard corrosion deposits are removed more quickly, without the need for repeated strokes.
The handle has thumb pressure areas that allow the tool to be guided securely at different working angles. Its anti-slip surface gives control over the pressure applied, which matters when working in tight spaces where movement is limited.

The key parameter is the width of the tool — with narrow carriers (typical of Japanese and compact European vehicles) a width of under 12 mm is essential. It is worth checking the dimensions of the gap between the disc and the carrier before buying. A coarse file such as the YT-06565 copes with advanced corrosion and thick deposits; for lighter contamination or surface finishing, files with a finer grade are used.
