Coated Straight Ratchet 1/4" YATO YT-0290
1/4" ratchet with a 72-tooth mechanism and a quick-release socket system. Made from CRV 6135 chrome vanadium steel with a TPR-coated handle, designed for working in confined spaces when tightening and loosening fasteners.
Technical features of the 1/4" ratchet
72-tooth mechanism
The 72-tooth ratchet mechanism provides a 5-degree working angle. In practice, this means you can tighten fasteners in places where the available range of movement is very limited – for example, when working close to walls, pipes or other obstacles. The more teeth, the smaller the angle required to engage the mechanism.
CRV 6135 chrome vanadium steel
CRV 6135 offers greater resistance to torsion and mechanical wear than standard tool steels. The addition of chromium and vanadium improves hardness and corrosion resistance, which translates into a longer tool life under intensive use.
Quick Release system
The quick-release mechanism allows sockets to be changed without additional tools. Simply pull the locking collar to release the socket. This speeds up work when socket sizes are changed frequently and eliminates the risk of a socket falling out accidentally during use.
TPR-coated handle
The TPR thermoplastic rubber forms an anti-slip layer on the handle. This material retains its properties across a wide temperature range and provides better control of the tool when working in gloves or in damp conditions. The coating also absorbs vibration during tightening.

Socket compatibility
The ratchet works with all 1/4" sockets in accordance with DIN 3120 / ISO 1174. Before buying sockets, check the square drive size – in this case 6.35 mm (1/4"). Sockets are available from 4 mm to 14 mm as well as in imperial equivalents. Extension bars, universal joints and adapters for larger sizes can also be used.
Use and maintenance
Before first use, check that the ratchet mechanism works by switching the direction of rotation several times. The direction switch is located on the ratchet head and should operate smoothly without jamming.
During use, make sure the socket is fully seated on the drive – you should hear the Quick Release mechanism click. If the socket is not fully seated, both the socket and the ratchet mechanism may be damaged.
The ratchet is designed for manual tightening. Do not use handle extensions or slip a pipe over it to increase leverage – this can damage the ratchet mechanism or exceed the strength of the material.
Mechanism maintenance
The ratchet mechanism requires periodic lubrication. After a few months of intensive use, apply a small amount of machine oil or PTFE grease around the head. After applying, switch the direction of rotation several times and turn the ratchet a few times so that the lubricant spreads evenly. Wipe off any excess lubricant with a cloth.
After use, clean the ratchet of dust and dirt. Do not wash the tool under running water – moisture can get into the mechanism and cause corrosion. A dry cloth or brush is sufficient for cleaning. For heavy soiling, a degreaser can be used, followed by thorough drying of the tool.
Store the ratchet in a dry place, preferably in a tool case or on a workshop tool board. Avoiding moisture and direct contact with the floor extends the life of both the mechanism and the protective coating.
