The KD980 is a set of combination drill & tap bits made from high-speed steel (HSS) and produced by grinding. The tools allow a hole and a metric thread to be produced in a single operation, without the need to change tools. The set contains six sizes from M3 to M10.

A combination drill & tap bit brings together the functions of a drill bit and a tap in a single tool. The hole and the metric thread are produced in one pass, which shortens working time and removes the need for separate hand taps.
High-speed steel (HSS)
HSS (high-speed steel) is an alloy steel with increased hardness and resistance to the temperatures generated during cutting. The material retains its cutting properties at higher rotational speeds than carbon steel, which translates into longer edge life.
Ground finish
Grinding (as opposed to rolling or milling) provides more accurate geometry of the cutting edges and thread. The precision of manufacture has a direct effect on the quality and repeatability of the threads produced in the machined holes.

How to select the correct size
