Welding process and finishing after repair
The YATO welding tool uses the method of melting metal staples into the cracked plastic surface. Heated to 500°C, the staples penetrate the material on both sides of the crack, forming a mechanical joint as they set. The process requires the repair area to be cleaned of dirt and degreased beforehand.
Once welding is complete, the protruding staple ends should be trimmed with the supplied side cutters. The repaired area can then be finished further: sanded with sandpaper, treated with body filler and, once dry, painted. This sequence of steps produces a neat end result close to the original condition of the component.
Compatibility with the YATO 18V system
The welding tool works with all batteries in the YATO 18V line. Owners of other tools in this system can use the interchangeable batteries, which reduces running costs and cuts down the number of chargers in the workshop.
