Bolt cutters designed for cutting steel rods, wire and rebar up to 12 mm in diameter. Fitted with chrome-molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel jaws that have been heat-treated, plus a manual blade clearance adjustment mechanism.
The addition of molybdenum increases the hardenability of the steel and improves its impact resistance and corrosion resistance compared with standard CrV tool steel. The jaws stay sharp for longer and are less prone to chipping when working with hard materials.
The hardening process increases the hardness of the blades, and the tempering that follows removes internal stresses. This treatment minimises the risk of cracking and chipping during intensive use, extending the service life of the tool.
The adjustment mechanism lets you set the clearance between the jaws to match the current state of wear. Correctly set blades deliver a clean cut without crushing the material and reduce the force required during use.
The grips increase friction between the hand and the handle, which limits slipping of the tool during use. The rubber absorbs vibration and reduces pressure on the hands during repeated use.

If the blades crush the material instead of cutting through it, or if the force required has increased significantly, the clearance between the jaws should be reduced. Excessive clearance also shows up as uneven cut edges. The adjustment is made with the adjusting screw in the pivot mechanism.
Do not exceed the maximum cutting diameter of 12 mm – attempting to cut thicker rods may damage the blades or the mechanism. After use, clean metal debris from the jaws and protect them with a thin film of oil, particularly when working in damp conditions. Storing the tool in a dry place extends its service life.
