Auxiliary items for laying ceramic tiles that ensure a consistent joint width. Made from plastic, suitable for indoor and outdoor work with glazed wall tiles, terracotta and porcelain tiles.
The spacer dimension corresponds to the joint width between tiles. A 2.5 mm joint is the standard for tiles from 15×15 cm to 30×60 cm, striking a balance between appearance and compensation for tile dimensional tolerances.
The spacers maintain a constant gap between tiles while the adhesive sets. They eliminate the risk of shifting and uneven joints that can occur when gaps are estimated by hand. They also make it easier to keep the surface level.
The material is resistant to moisture and does not react chemically with tile adhesives. It holds its dimensions under varying temperature and humidity, which matters for outdoor work.
Compatible with wall and floor tiles: glazed tiles, terracotta and porcelain. They can be used both indoors (bathrooms, kitchens) and outdoors (patios, façades) without losing their properties.

The spacers are placed where the corners of the tiles meet. After applying the adhesive and laying the first tile, subsequent tiles are laid keeping the gaps set by the spacers. Once the adhesive has set (usually 24-48 hours), the spacers must be removed before grouting. They can be taken out by hand or with pliers. They are not left in the joints.
A 2.5 mm width works well with tiles that have standard dimensional tolerances. For rectified tiles (with precisely ground edges), a narrower 1.5-2 mm joint can be considered. For lower-quality tiles or larger formats (over 60 cm), a 3 mm or wider joint may be necessary.
