Tile levelling system wedges allow precise alignment of surfaces when laying ceramic, porcelain stoneware and rectified tiles. This set of 150 PS plastic wedges works with levelling clips, eliminating height differences between tiles 5-14 mm thick.
Compatible with floor and wall tiles across a wide range of thicknesses. The system handles both thin ceramic tiles (5 mm) and thicker porcelain stoneware (up to 14 mm), doing away with the need for separate tools for different materials.
Enables narrow joints of the kind typical of rectified tiles. The 1 mm minimum allows installation with narrow joints, while the actual joint width is set using tile spacers selected for the project.
The PS (polystyrene) material provides sufficient rigidity to maintain tension in the system while allowing the wedge to be snapped off easily once the adhesive has set. Strength is matched so that the wedge does not crack during installation, yet can be removed without damaging the tile.
The wedges are the reusable component of the levelling system. Unlike clips (single-use items), the same wedges can be used on subsequent projects. A quantity of 150 pcs is enough for ongoing work with a standard-sized set of clips.

The wedge works together with a clip (sold separately) to create a clamping mechanism. Once the tile has been laid on adhesive, a clip is placed under its edge and the wedge is then pushed in, pressing the tile down onto the substrate and levelling it with the adjoining tiles. After the adhesive has set (usually 24h), the clip is snapped off and the wedge is pulled out for reuse.
The levelling system itself does not impose a specific joint width – it is only responsible for levelling tile heights. The joint width is set using tile spacers selected for the project (available in sizes from 1 mm upwards). The 1 mm minimum means that the system does not stand in the way of laying tiles with the narrowest joints.
The YATO YT-36945 wedge system works with three main categories of ceramic tiles:
Standard ceramic tiles – traditional wall and floor tiles with edges that are not precision-finished. The system levels out height differences caused by an uneven substrate or uneven application of adhesive.
Porcelain stoneware – tiles of greater hardness and density, often in larger formats. The 5-14 mm thickness range covers both standard 8-10 mm porcelain stoneware and thicker technical variants or thinner large-format tiles.
Rectified tiles – material with precisely cut edges, laid with minimal joints (1-2 mm). A levelling system is particularly useful with this type of tile, where any unevenness is clearly visible because of the narrow joints.
Preparation before use: Check the wedges for mechanical damage. Any contamination with adhesive residue should be removed before reuse to ensure the clamping mechanism works correctly.
Installation: The wedge is pushed into the clip by hand or with a rubber mallet until it is flush with the adjoining tiles. Excessive force may crack the wedge or lift the tile, while too little tension will not level the surface.
Removal: Once the adhesive has set (in line with the adhesive manufacturer's instructions, usually 24h), the clip is snapped off with a blow struck parallel to the joint. The wedge is pulled out perpendicular to the tile surface. Any clip remnants are removed during grouting.
Storage: Store the wedges in a dry place, protected from mechanical damage. PS plastic is resistant to moisture but may degrade under prolonged exposure to UV – avoid storing in sunny locations.
Service life: With correct use, the wedges retain their properties through many installation cycles. Replacement is necessary in the event of visible cracks, deformation or wear to the working surfaces that affects the stability of the connection with the clip.
