Diamond Core Drill Bit for Porcelain Tiles 55 mm M14 (K00514)
A tool for precision drilling of holes in hard ceramic materials. Fitted with a diamond grit coating, it allows fixing holes to be drilled in glazed porcelain, full-body porcelain, ceramic and clinker tiles using an angle grinder.
Technical features
Diamond grit coating
The working layer is made from synthetic diamonds embedded in a metal matrix. It allows materials with a Mohs hardness above 7 to be cut. As the hardest natural material, diamond penetrates the crystalline structure of porcelain and ceramic effectively without excessive tool wear.
M14 thread
The standard fitting used on angle grinders from 500W upwards. The M14 x 2 mm metric thread lets the core drill bit be screwed directly onto the grinder spindle with no adaptor required. Check the thread type on your grinder before fitting.
55 mm diameter
A size that matches standard openings for 60 mm flush-mounted back boxes and bathroom taps. The actual hole drilled will be 55 mm in diameter, which leaves a margin for adjusting installation components to allow for fitting tolerances.
Wet and dry use
The design of the core drill bit allows drilling with water cooling (extends service life, reduces dust) or without it. Wet drilling is recommended for intensive use and harder materials. Dry drilling is acceptable for occasional holes, with pauses to let the tool cool.

Use and maintenance
Preparing for use
Before drilling, screw the core drill bit onto the spindle of an angle grinder with an M14 thread. Mark the centre of the hole on the tile surface. For wet drilling, set up a water cooling system or a bottle of water to wet the drilling point. Safety glasses and work gloves are recommended.
Drilling technique
Start drilling at 1500-2000 rpm, holding the grinder at 45° to the surface. Once a groove has been started, set the tool perpendicular. Apply moderate pressure and let the diamonds do the work. When dry drilling, pause every 15-20 seconds for 5-10 seconds to let the tool cool. Do not drill in hammer mode.
Maintenance
After use, clean ceramic dust off the core drill bit with a wire brush. Check the condition of the diamond grit coating - even wear indicates correct technique. Store in a dry place. If cutting performance drops noticeably, the coating can be restored by briefly drilling into an abrasive material (calcium silicate brick).
