A 12V DC electric winch designed for mounting on off-road vehicles, recovery trucks and trailers. A pulling capacity of 5,443 kg (12,000 lbs) is enough to recover cars and quad bikes and to winch vehicles onto transport platforms. The unit is fitted with a 27.5 m steel wire rope, a three-stage planetary gearbox and two control modes: wired and wireless.
Technical features
4.8 kW induction motor
The 4.8 kW motor delivers a constant pulling force even under heavy loads. High power reduces the risk of the mechanism stalling when working in difficult terrain or recovering vehicles from deep mud. Powered from a 12V battery — minimum cranking capacity of 650 CCA recommended.
Three-stage planetary gearbox
A planetary gearbox with a 187.2:1 ratio, made from high-grade steel. The planetary design is compact while spreading the load across multiple teeth — this translates into durability and quiet running compared with worm gearboxes.
Two-stage brake in the drum
The braking system integrated into the drum holds the load in position once the operation has stopped. The two-stage brake action increases safety when working with heavy loads — the load does not creep back down on its own after the control is released.
Free-spooling clutch
The new-generation clutch allows the rope to be pulled out by hand without running the motor. This is particularly useful when attaching the hook to the vehicle being recovered — it saves time and battery power.
Steel wire rope ø 9.1 mm, 27.5 m
Steel wire rope 9.1 mm in diameter and 27.5 m long, terminated with a steel hook fitted with a safety catch. The 9.1 mm rope thickness is proportionate to the stated pulling capacity — thinner ropes used in cheaper units deform more quickly under full load.
Metal housing with a protective coating
The housing is made of metal finished with a black coating that resists moisture and dirt. Unlike plastic housings, the metal construction provides mechanical durability when working in the field and when mounted on 4x4 bumpers.
Controls
The KD1565 winch supports two independent control modes that can be used interchangeably depending on the working conditions:
Wired remote control
A 3.7 m cable with large control buttons for winding in and paying out the rope. Wired control needs no charged remote battery and works reliably in all weather conditions.
Wireless remote control
Range up to 30 metres. It lets you operate the winch from a safe distance — particularly important when recovering vehicles, as the operator should stay outside the path of a tensioned rope.
Battery requirements
The winch is powered directly from the vehicle battery (12V DC). Correct operation requires a battery with a minimum cranking capacity of 650 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps). With insufficient battery capacity, the motor may not reach full power or may reset when working under heavy load. The power lead supplied is 1.83 m long (two-core).

Installation
The winch is designed for mounting on bumpers and mounting plates with a bolt pattern of 254 x 114.3 mm — this is a standard pattern that matches most aftermarket 4x4 bumpers. Before purchase, check the mounting hole pattern on your bumper or mounting plate.
The unit weighs 45 kg (with the steel wire rope), which should be taken into account when planning the installation and when assessing the permissible front axle payload of the vehicle.
