The KD3517 is an installation tool designed for pulling wires and cables through cable ducts, conduit and flexible conduit. Its 30 m fibreglass tape with a 4 mm diameter allows installations to be routed over long runs without the need for additional auxiliary tools.
Fibreglass combines the flexibility needed to negotiate bends and turns in the route with enough longitudinal rigidity to push the tape along the duct without it coiling up. The plastic coating protects the fibreglass from mechanical damage and helps it slide through the pipe.
A 4 mm diameter lets the tape pass freely through standard installation pipes and flexible conduit while providing sufficient resistance to twisting during use. A tape that is too thin loses its directional stability, while one that is too thick will not fit into narrower ducts — 4 mm is the compromise used in standard installations.
The eyelet at the end of the tape allows the cable or bundle of wires being pulled to be attached securely. The threaded copper connector provides a durable, repeatable joint — copper is corrosion-resistant and will not seize up the thread when used repeatedly.
ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a plastic that resists impact and deformation and is widely used in hand tools. The ergonomic shape of the handle reduces hand fatigue during prolonged use.

Before choosing the tool, check the internal diameter of the pipe or flexible conduit and the total length of the route. A 4 mm tape requires a pipe with an internal diameter of at least 6–8 mm. A 30 m working length suits typical installations in multi-storey buildings or long horizontal runs. On routes with many bends, it is worth lubricating the tape with a pulling lubricant, which reduces friction.
