Self-locking mechanism
The lower jaw with its clamping mechanism maintains pressure without any input from the operator. Once the jaw opening has been set, the pliers stay closed, which allows you to work with both hands while welding or assembling.
Jaw opening adjustment

How the self-locking mechanism works
The jaws work on a lever principle: the greater the force acting on the clamped component, the stronger the grip. The adjustment screw sets the starting point of the clamp, and the locking mechanism holds that position. Release is by pressing the lever, which unlocks the mechanism without altering the screw setting.
Use and maintenance
Before first use, check that the release mechanism operates smoothly and that the thread of the adjustment screw is in good condition. The pliers should open and close without jamming.
During work, avoid direct contact between the jaws and the welding arc. Despite the material's resistance to heat, prolonged exposure to radiant heat can weaken the springiness of the jaws. Keep the pliers at least 30-50 mm away from the weld.
After finishing work, clean welding spatter and dirt off the jaws. Lubricate the thread of the adjustment screw with machine oil every few weeks to prevent seizing. Check the condition of the release mechanism regularly – if it needs more force to open, it may require cleaning or lubrication.
Store the pliers in the open position so as not to load the spring of the clamping mechanism. Avoid knocks and drops, which can distort the jaws or damage the adjustment mechanism.
