GEKO G01465 measuring wheel
A mechanical outdoor distance measuring device, fitted with a mechanical counter and a 318 mm wheel. Folding design with a carry bag.
Technical features
Measuring range and resolution
The unit measures distances from 0.1 to 9999.9 metres with a resolution of 0.1 m (10 cm). This range is sufficient for routes of almost 10 kilometres, which matches the typical requirements of site measuring, surveying or setting out routes.
±0.5% accuracy
The measuring error is a maximum of 0.5% of the measured distance. This means a deviation of up to 50 cm over 100 metres, or 5 metres per kilometre. Accuracy depends on how level the ground is and on the wheel rolling correctly without slipping.
318 mm measuring wheel
The wheel diameter affects both accuracy and ease of use. A 318 mm wheel (circumference approximately 1 metre) provides stability over uneven ground and reduces the number of rotations needed to measure long distances, which in turn means a smaller cumulative error.
Folding design
The handle can be folded, which reduces the unit's transport dimensions. Supplied with a carry bag that makes it easier to carry and protects it from mechanical damage during storage or transport in a vehicle.

Use and maintenance
Measuring conditions affecting accuracy
An accuracy of ±0.5% is achievable on level, hard ground. On uneven surfaces, sand, grass or sloping ground, the error may increase. The wheel must roll without slipping — on a slippery surface, or if the unit is pushed too quickly, the reading may be too low.
Resetting the counter
The mechanical counter must be reset to zero before each measurement. The mechanism counts the wheel rotations and converts them into metres, so resetting is essential to obtain correct results for successive measurements.
Storage and transport
Once the handle is folded, the unit takes up less space and fits more easily into a vehicle's boot. The carry bag protects the wheel and counter from dust, moisture and impacts. Before storing, it is worth cleaning mud and sand off the wheel, as these can affect how smoothly it rolls.
