Twist drill bit for metal, made from HSS-CO M35 high-speed steel with a 5% cobalt content. Designed for drilling in structural and stainless steels as well as non-ferrous metal alloys in accordance with the DIN 338 standard.
The addition of cobalt increases the hardness and heat resistance of the drill bit, which allows it to work at higher temperatures without losing the sharpness of the cutting edge. This solution is particularly useful when drilling difficult-to-machine steels and materials of elevated hardness.
Precisely ground flutes ensure efficient chip evacuation from the hole and reduce friction during drilling. This translates into cleaner holes and a longer tool life.
The special 125° point grind removes the need to centre-punch the material beforehand. The drill bit self-centres at the drilling point, which speeds up the work and improves the accuracy of hole positioning.
Standard dimensions to DIN 338 guarantee compatibility with drill chucks and consistent dimensions from bit to bit. The straight shank fits all standard drills and cordless drills.

HSS (High Speed Steel) is a high-speed steel capable of working at high temperatures. The CO designation indicates the addition of cobalt, and M35 is a specific steel grade containing 5% cobalt. This composition provides hardness of 65-68 HRC and resistance to temperatures of up to 600°C, which significantly extends tool life compared with standard HSS drill bits.
When drilling, the use of a cutting fluid or cutting oil is recommended, particularly when working with materials of high hardness. Cooling prevents the drill bit from overheating and extends its service life. The rotational speed should be matched to the material being drilled – approximately 1800-2400 rpm for structural steels and 900-1200 rpm for stainless steels.
After use, the drill bit should be cleaned of chips and protected from moisture. Regularly checking the sharpness of the cutting edge helps to avoid excessive wear and a deterioration in hole quality. A blunt drill bit generates more heat and may damage the workpiece.
