A specialist drill bit with a carbide cutting tip, designed for drilling holes in glass and ceramic materials. The YT-3728 features a YG6X tungsten carbide cutting edge that delivers precise cutting of hard, brittle surfaces without cracking the material.
YG6X-grade tungsten carbide has a hardness approaching that of diamond, which makes it possible to drill toughened glass and ceramics without excessive wear to the cutting edge. This material stays sharp far longer than standard tool steels, resulting in a greater number of holes drilled while maintaining cut quality.
A 10 mm diameter is a universal size used when fitting typical bathroom and kitchen fixtures. A hole of this size accommodates standard handles, wall hooks and pipe and cable entries in ceramic tiles and glass panels.
The cylindrical shank provides a secure fit in standard drill chucks. This design eliminates bit slippage during use, which is crucial when drilling materials that require a constant rotational speed and even pressure.
The body, made from high-quality steel, transfers torque from the drill to the cutting tip without deformation. Adequate shank rigidity prevents vibration during drilling, which could otherwise lead to cracking of the workpiece.

When working with glass and ceramics, use a low drill speed (300-500 rpm) and moderate, steady pressure. Drilling these materials requires water cooling, which prevents the carbide tip from overheating and the material from cracking. It is worth marking the drilling point with masking tape, which stops the bit from slipping on smooth surfaces.
The drill bit works with corded and cordless drills fitted with a standard drill chuck. Hammer action is not recommended, as it can damage the carbide tip and cause the workpiece to crack. Best results are achieved with variable-speed drills.
After use, clean the drill bit of ceramic dust and material residue. Check the carbide tip periodically for mechanical damage. Storing it in a dry place, separate from other tools, prevents accidental damage to the delicate cutting edge.
