Professional three-piece reamer set for restoring the threads of glow plug seats in diesel engines. A workshop tool made from chrome vanadium steel, designed to remove carbon deposits and corrosion and to restore correct thread geometry before fitting new glow plugs.
The set includes M12 x 1.25 (59 mm and 94 mm) and M10 x 1.0 (107 mm) reamers, matching the most common thread standards used in diesel engine cylinder heads. The different lengths allow access to seats in a range of installation configurations.
The material of the tools provides the hardness needed to cut through carbon deposits and contaminants without excessive wear to the cutting edges. The chrome vanadium alloy is resistant to abrasion and deformation when working in confined spaces.
The set is supplied in a rigid case that protects the tools against mechanical damage and corrosion. It makes it easier to organise the workplace and to select the right reamer for a given thread quickly.
The reamers remove combustion products, oil and carbon deposits from glow plug seats without the need to remove the cylinder head. They restore correct thread geometry, which prevents leaks and makes fitting new glow plugs easier.

Check the engine's technical specification or measure the diameter and thread pitch of the glow plug seat. M12 x 1.25 threads are found in most passenger car and van diesel engines, while M10 x 1.0 is used in some smaller-capacity units. Choose the reamer length according to the depth of the seat and the access available for fitting.
Before cleaning the seats, remove the glow plugs and check the condition of the threads visually. Insert the reamer into the seat by hand, turning it slowly in the direction of the thread. Excessive force or rotational speed can damage the thread in the cylinder head.
Once the work is finished, clean the reamers of swarf and carbon deposits, then protect them against corrosion with a thin film of oil. Store the tools in the original case in a dry place. Regular cleaning and maintenance extend the life of the cutting edges.
After cleaning the seats with the reamer, remove all swarf and contaminants with compressed air or a workshop vacuum cleaner. Leaving swarf in the combustion chamber can damage the pistons or valves when the engine is started.
