A hand riveter with an aluminium body and a three-jaw chrome molybdenum steel mechanism. Model YT-36070 takes blind rivets from 2.4 mm to 4.8 mm, which makes it a versatile tool for sheet metalwork, assembly and repair jobs.
The riveter takes the four most common blind rivet diameters: 2.4 mm, 3.2 mm, 4.0 mm and 4.8 mm. This range covers most applications in sheet metalwork, metal fabrication and repair work. Nosepieces for different rivet diameters can be swapped without any additional tools.
The aluminium body keeps the tool light while maintaining adequate rigidity. The material is corrosion resistant and does not strain the wrist during long working sessions. Combined with carbon steel handles, the aluminium body forms a well-balanced design with a long service life.
Three jaws made from chrome molybdenum (CrMo) steel grip the rivet mandrel evenly and shear it in a controlled way. CrMo steel is characterised by high hardness and wear resistance, which means the mechanism keeps working precisely even after thousands of riveting cycles.
Handles made from carbon steel deliver sufficient leverage when setting larger diameter rivets. Carbon steel has high mechanical strength, so the force applied is transferred effectively to the pulling mechanism without deformation.

The length of the rivet stem should be matched to the combined thickness of the parts being riveted. As a rule, the rivet length should exceed the material thickness by roughly 1.5 times the rivet diameter. For materials up to 3 mm thick, use 2.4-3.2 mm rivets; for 3-5 mm, use 4.0 mm rivets; and for thicknesses above 5 mm, use 4.8 mm rivets.
Before starting work, make sure the fitted nosepiece matches the diameter of the rivet being used. The rivet is inserted into a hole 0.1-0.2 mm larger than the diameter of the rivet stem. Push the rivet mandrel into the riveter nose as far as it will go, then squeeze the handles several times until the mandrel shears off.
The three-jaw mechanism needs periodic cleaning to remove metal dust and spent mandrels. Remove debris regularly with compressed air and lubricate the pivot points with light machine oil. When you have finished, release the tension in the mechanism by squeezing the handles several times with no rivet fitted.
Store the tool in a dry place, protected from moisture. The aluminium body is corrosion resistant, but the steel mechanism needs protection from water and aggressive chemical environments. It is worth keeping the nosepieces for different rivet diameters in a dedicated container so that they do not get lost.
