Manual hedge shears with an overall length of 520 mm and a 205 mm blade. A tool designed for precise hedge shaping, trimming ornamental shrubs and cutting branches up to a few centimetres in diameter.
This parameter defines the dimension of the shears from the end of one handle to the other. A length of 520 mm provides sufficient leverage when cutting thicker branches and a comfortable working reach without excessive effort. This size works well in domestic gardens and for regular maintenance of hedges up to 2 metres in height.
The blade length affects the cutting surface and the ability to trim longer sections of hedge in a single stroke. A 205 mm blade allows efficient shaping of both small shrubs and wider areas of greenery. This parameter determines the working efficiency during regular trimming.
The shape of the handles affects how cutting force is distributed and the comfort of prolonged work. The ergonomic design reduces strain on the wrists and minimises the risk of chafing, which matters during sessions lasting several dozen minutes or longer.
Manual shears require neither mains power nor fuel, which ensures full mobility and independence from energy sources. The absence of a motor means a lower tool weight, quieter operation and no exhaust emissions, which matters when working near windows or places of rest.

Before first use, check the tension of the blades and the condition of the pivot mechanism. The blades should meet evenly along their entire length with no play. With new shears, it is advisable to lightly oil the pivot and the cutting surfaces with machine oil or a garden tool maintenance product.
When trimming a hedge, move the shears upwards or horizontally, keeping the blades parallel to the surface being shaped. Cut gradually, removing small sections of vegetation. For thicker branches, position the branch deeper towards the pivot, where the cutting force is greater.
Once you have finished working, remove plant residue from the blades with a brush or cloth. It is worth wiping the blades with a maintenance product to prevent corrosion, particularly after cutting fresh, damp shoots. Check the sharpness of the cutting edges periodically – blunt blades can be sharpened with a file or whetstone, keeping the original sharpening angle.
Store the shears in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct contact with the ground. Hanging the tool or placing it in a dedicated holder is recommended. Before a longer period of disuse, coat the blades with a thin layer of protective oil.
