A set of replacement abrasive stones designed for a cylinder hone with a diameter range of 32-90 mm. The stones are used for the precise finishing of the internal surfaces of engine cylinders.
The stone dimension provides an adequate contact surface with the cylinder, which results in even wear and preserves the flatness of the machined surface. The 50 mm length is standard for universal hones used on passenger car engines and small motorcycle engines.
The stones fit the GEKO hone with a diameter range of 32-90 mm. This range covers most cylinders of 4-cylinder petrol engines (typically 70-85 mm in diameter), as well as smaller motorcycle engines and one-piece assemblies.
Three stones positioned evenly around the hone axis provide symmetrical loading of the cylinder and precise guidance of the tool. This configuration minimises the risk of ovality or taper in the bore during machining.
The supplied fastening elements allow worn stones to be replaced quickly and safely without the need for additional tools. The retaining pins keep the stones securely in place during operation under load.

Honing is a finishing operation that removes the micro-irregularities left by reboring and gives the cylinder its characteristic cross-hatch pattern (usually at an angle of 45-60°). This pattern retains oil and ensures correct bedding-in of the piston rings. The stones work with a rotary and reciprocating motion, being gradually expanded until the target cylinder diameter is reached.
Before starting work, check that the stones are evenly secured in the hone and do not show excessive wear. Uneven stone wear leads to ovality in the cylinder.
During honing, generous lubrication with a dedicated honing oil or a mixture of oil and paraffin is essential. The cooling and lubricating fluid carries away heat, flushes out contaminants and prevents the stone pores from clogging.
After machining, the cylinders should be washed thoroughly with warm water and detergent, then dried and protected with a preservative oil. Any contamination left behind can damage the new piston and ring assembly.
The stones should be replaced when their surface becomes smooth (glazed) or when the depth of the abrasive grooves clearly decreases. Worn stones do not produce the correct honing pattern and extend the machining time.
