An eight-hole sanding disc designed for professional sanding work. The P40 grit removes material aggressively, while the hook and loop mounting system allows fast changes during intensive work.
Features of the 150 mm P40 Sanding Disc
P40 Grit for Stock Removal
The P40 grade is a coarse abrasive intended for removing large amounts of material. It is used for stripping old paint and lacquer, removing rust and levelling wooden and metal surfaces. It is not suitable for finishing — it leaves pronounced scratches that require further sanding with finer grades.
Hook and Loop Fixing (hook fastener)
The hook and loop backing allows the disc to be fitted and removed without tools. Simply press the disc onto the sander's backing pad — the hook and loop holds it firmly in place during work. A worn disc can be changed in seconds, which improves efficiency when working on large surfaces.
8 Dust Extraction Holes
The holes in the disc align with the sander's dust extraction system. They carry dust away directly from the sanding area, which reduces clogging of the abrasive grain and extends the life of the disc. They require a sander with the same hole pattern on its backing pad.
Aluminium Oxide Abrasive
Aluminium oxide is a versatile mineral abrasive with high hardness and wear resistance. It performs well on wood, non-ferrous metals and steel. A semi-open coat means greater spacing between the grains — this reduces clogging when sanding soft and resinous materials.

Sander Compatibility
The discs are suitable for orbital and random orbital sanders fitted with a 150 mm backing pad with 8 holes. Check the hole pattern on your sander before buying — the layout must match the discs. The YATO YT-82206 and YT-82207 models have the correct pattern.
Use and Maintenance
Safety goggles and a dust mask must be worn when working with P40 sanding discs. Coarse abrasives generate large amounts of dust and sharp fragments of material. A sander connected to a dust extractor or dust bag is recommended.
The discs are fitted by pressing them onto the sander's backing pad — the hook and loop fastens them automatically. Before fitting, make sure the backing pad is clean and free from residue of the previous disc. A worn disc is removed by peeling it off the backing pad.
The life of the disc depends on the material being sanded and the pressure applied. Excessive pressure causes faster wear and overheating of the disc. Sanding should be carried out with moderate pressure, using the weight of the sander itself. The disc needs replacing when the abrasive grains become glazed or the backing is damaged.
Backing Weight C
The C grade indicates a standard paper backing weight. It offers a compromise between flexibility and strength — the disc adapts to minor surface irregularities while remaining stable during aggressive sanding.
