Hook and Loop Sanding Discs, Perforated, 125mm, P120, 5 pcs YATO YT-83455

Perforated hook and loop sanding discs designed for 125mm random orbital sanders. The P120 grit makes them suitable for a wide range of sanding tasks on wood, metal and plastics, with dust extracted through the holes.

Features of the 125mm P120 Sanding Discs

P120 Grit – Versatile Use

Grit P120 (125 μm) defines the size of the abrasive particles. It strikes a balance between sanding performance and the quality of the surface finish. It is used for removing medium-level unevenness, preparing surfaces for painting and smoothing after work with coarser grits.

Perforations – Efficient Dust Extraction

The holes in the discs allow them to be connected to the dust extraction system of a random orbital sander. This prevents the abrasive grains from clogging, extends disc life and improves working conditions by reducing airborne dust.

Hook and Loop Attachment – Quick Change

The hook and loop fastening system allows discs to be fitted and removed without tools. Simply press the disc onto the sander's backing pad – the hook and loop holds it securely during work, and it is removed by peeling it off.

125mm Diameter – Compatibility

A diameter of 125 mm is the standard for mid-range random orbital sanders. Before buying, check the diameter of your sander's backing pad – the disc must match in size, and the hole pattern should line up with the dust extraction holes in the pad.

Applications of P120 Sanding Discs

  • Sanding solid wood and wood-based panels before painting
  • Smoothing metal surfaces after welding or machining
  • Removing rust, mill scale and old paint coatings
  • Preparing plastic surfaces for bonding
  • Keying painted surfaces before recoating
  • Levelling filler and repair compounds
  • Sanding between coats of paint or wood stain
  • Finishing furniture components and joinery

Tool Compatibility

The discs fit 125mm random orbital sanders with a hook and loop backing pad. Before buying, check that the dust extraction hole pattern on the disc matches the layout on your backing pad – it can vary between tool manufacturers.

Use and Maintenance

During work, the disc should be fitted evenly across the whole surface of the pad, avoiding creases. Regular cleaning of the disc with a brush or compressed air is recommended to remove debris from the abrasive grains. A worn disc loses its cutting ability – this shows as longer working times and a poorer surface finish.

Optimum operating parameters depend on the material being worked. Lower speeds are used for wood (8,000-10,000 rpm), higher for metal (10,000-12,000 rpm). Excessive pressure shortens disc life and can cause the material to overheat.

Grit Sequence for Sanding

P120 grit is usually used as an intermediate stage. When working bare wood, start with P60-P80, then P120, and finish with P180-P240. Skipping stages leads to scratches and unevenness that are difficult to remove in later stages.
