A twist drill bit made from HSS 4341 high-speed steel, enhanced with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. Compliant with DIN 338, it is designed for precision drilling in metals, including difficult-to-machine materials.
The black and gold ceramic layer increases the surface hardness of the drill bit to approx. 2400 HV, reduces the coefficient of friction and prevents chips from sticking. The coating extends tool life by up to 300% compared with uncoated HSS drill bits, particularly when machining stainless steels and alloys.
A high-speed steel alloy containing tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium and cobalt. It retains its hardness at temperatures up to 600°C, which allows work at higher cutting speeds. The wear-resistant material ensures stable cutting-edge geometry during prolonged use.
The two-stage 135° point grind removes the need for spot drilling a starting point. The drill bit self-centres on the workpiece surface, which shortens working time and improves hole positioning accuracy. This angle is ideal for structural steels and aluminium alloys.
Precision-ground spiral flutes ensure efficient chip evacuation from deep holes. The design minimises the risk of the drill bit jamming and helps cool the cutting zone. The cutting edges are ground at an angle that optimises even distribution of cutting forces.

The rotational speed depends on the material being machined: 15-25 m/min for structural steels and 40-80 m/min for aluminium. At a diameter of 6.5 mm, this corresponds to approximately 735-1225 rpm for steel and 1960-3920 rpm for aluminium. A feed rate of 0.10-0.20 mm/rev is recommended, along with emulsion or cutting oil cooling for difficult-to-machine materials.
After each use, clean the drill bit of chips and coolant residue. Store in a dry place, protected from mechanical impact. The TiN coating requires no additional lubrication. If the cutting edge becomes noticeably dull, the drill bit can be reground, but this process removes part of the TiN coating and shortens tool life.
The 6.5 mm straight shank fits drill chucks with a 1-13 mm capacity (standard drill chucks) and keyless chucks. When fitting, ensure the drill bit is concentric with the spindle axis – maximum radial runout should not exceed 0.02 mm to maintain drilling accuracy.
