A drivetrain component responsible for transmitting torque between the drive shaft and the gearbox or final drive. The inner CV joint compensates for changes in shaft angle as the suspension moves, ensuring continuous power transmission.
An inner joint fitted on the gearbox or final drive side. It allows the shaft angle to change by up to 22-25 degrees, which is essential as the suspension moves. Its tripod or Rzeppa-type design ensures smooth power transmission at varying angles.
The component connecting the joint to the drive shaft. It provides torsional stiffness while allowing angular movement. The tubular design reduces unsprung mass, which improves suspension performance and ride comfort.
The joint transmits the engine's full torque, including shock loads during sudden acceleration or driving over uneven surfaces. The strength of its construction determines the durability of the entire drivetrain, particularly in vehicles used intensively.
The dimensions of the splined connections, the diameters and the tube length must match the vehicle's specification. Before purchase, verify compatibility against the OEM part number or the dimensions of the original component.
| Model | C00302 |
| Manufacturer | GEKO |
| Joint type | Inner |
| Application | Drive shaft (half shaft) |
| Scope of delivery | Joint with tube |
Before ordering, compare part number C00302 with the vehicle's OEM number (available in the technical documentation or from a dealer). Alternatively, remove the original component and measure: the inner diameter of the joint, the outer diameter of the tube, the overall length, and the type and dimensions of the splines. If any of these parameters do not match, the part cannot be fitted.
Replacing an inner CV joint requires lifting the vehicle, removing the wheel and disconnecting the drive shaft from the gearbox or final drive. Make sure the fitting angle is set correctly and the bolts are tightened to the torque specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
After fitting, check that the dust boots are sealed and that the oil level in the gearbox or final drive is correct. Inner CV joints are greased at the factory and require no maintenance, but a damaged boot leads to rapid wear – in which case the entire component must be replaced.
Characteristic clicking when turning, vibration under acceleration, drivetrain judder or knocking when pulling away. A worn joint can also cause uneven tyre wear and problems with steering. Continuing to drive with a damaged joint risks a breakdown while driving.
