Insulated hex bit socket with VDE certification, designed for safe work on live electrical installations up to 1000 V AC. The tool combines a 5 mm hex bit with a 3/8" drive, so it can be used both as a hand tool and in combination with impact drivers.
The insulating coating meets the VDE standard and provides protection against electric shock up to 1000 V AC. The VDE certification confirms that the tool has been tested in accordance with safety standards for work on live electrical equipment. This means it can be used safely on electrical installations in domestic and industrial settings.
CrV steel offers higher hardness and resistance to twisting than ordinary tool steels. The addition of vanadium increases wear resistance, which translates into a longer tool life under intensive use. Mechanical strength of up to 30 Nm allows screws to be tightened safely without the risk of damaging the bit.
The 3/8" drive allows the socket to be used with impact drivers, angle drivers and ratchets that share this drive standard. This makes it possible to mechanise work on larger numbers of bolted connections. The standard 3/8" size ensures compatibility with most professional workshop equipment.
The textured insulating coating prevents the tool from slipping out of the hand during use. This is particularly important when working in difficult conditions - in damp environments, with oily hands or while wearing protective gloves. It also makes precise control of tightening torque easier.

The VDE mark (Verband der Elektrotechnik) confirms that the tool meets German safety standards for work on electrical equipment. Every VDE tool undergoes dielectric testing at twice the rated working voltage. For a tool marked 1000 V AC, this means testing at 2000 V. The certification guarantees safety provided the insulating coating is undamaged - the condition of the insulation must be checked before every use.
The condition of the insulating coating must be checked before every use - cracks, abrasions or mechanical damage disqualify the tool from work on live equipment. The tool should be stored in a dry place, away from heat sources and chemicals that could damage the insulation.
The maximum torque of 30 Nm must not be exceeded during use - higher loads may cause permanent deformation of the bit. After use, the tool should be cleaned with a dry cloth. VDE tools must not be washed in organic solvents or cleaned with pressure washers.
The 3/8" drive requires periodic checks for wear - play in the connection with a ratchet or driver can lead to damage to the drive mechanism. YATO recommends an annual inspection of VDE tools at authorised service centres, particularly under intensive professional use.
