KD880 Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet

The Kraft&Dele KD880 welding helmet is fitted with an automatic liquid crystal filter that responds to the welding arc and switches on its own between the light and dark states. The unit complies with EN379 and EN175, providing eye and face protection when working with the MMA, MIG/MAG and TIG methods.

Adjustable shadeDIN 9–13
Light stateDIN 4
UV/IR protectionDIN 16 (permanent)
Viewing area92 × 42 mm

Product features

Automatic auto-darkening filter

An optical sensor built into the filter cassette detects the light from the welding arc and triggers the filter to darken within a fraction of a second. Once the arc goes out, the filter returns to the light state (DIN 4), so you can inspect the weld freely without lifting the helmet.

Stepless shade adjustment DIN 9–13

The shade level can be adjusted steplessly to suit the welding method and the current. Lower DIN values (9–10) are used for TIG welding at low currents, while higher values (12–13) suit MIG/MAG and MMA at higher currents. Choosing the right shade level reduces eye strain during prolonged work.

Sensor sensitivity adjustment

Being able to set the sensor sensitivity threshold lets you adapt the filter's response to ambient conditions — particularly useful when welding in areas with changing light levels or with methods that produce a weaker arc, such as TIG.

Hybrid power supply: battery + solar cell

The helmet runs on batteries that are recharged by the built-in solar cell while working in the presence of light. This design extends battery life and reduces the risk of the batteries running flat during use.

Permanent UV/IR protection at DIN 16

Whatever the state of the filter (light or dark), the helmet provides permanent protection against ultraviolet and infrared radiation at DIN 16. This means the eyes are protected at all times during use — including when the filter is switching between states.

Applications

  • Manual metal arc (MMA) welding
  • MIG/MAG welding (semi-automatic)
  • TIG (argon) welding
  • Workshop tasks requiring eye and face protection from the electric arc
  • Welding in changing light conditions (sensor sensitivity adjustment)
  • Applications requiring compliance with EN379 and EN175 standards

How to choose the DIN shade for your welding method

For TIG welding at low currents (up to around 60 A), DIN 9–10 is sufficient. MMA welding at 100–200 A typically requires DIN 11–12. At higher currents and with the MIG/MAG method, DIN 12–13 is recommended. Manufacturers of welding electrodes and filler wires often state the recommended shade level in their technical documentation.
