YATO YT-79930 Log Lifter with Hook for Turning Logs
A forestry tool for lifting, turning and stabilising logs while cutting with a chainsaw. The structure built around a 32 mm steel tube allows timber to be handled safely without excessive strain on the back.
Technical features of the log lifter
Q195 steel construction
The 32 x 1.8 mm steel tube gives the structure the rigidity needed to hold logs weighing tens of kilograms securely in place. The 1.8 mm wall thickness withstands the loads encountered when lifting and turning timber.
1300 mm arm length
The 1300 mm extended length creates leverage that reduces the force needed to lift a log. This length lets you work in an upright position, minimising strain on the lower back when repeatedly repositioning timber.
Hook opening up to 380 mm
The maximum opening of 380 mm covers logs from a dozen or so centimetres up to around 35–38 cm in diameter. The lifter's mechanism adapts to different timber thicknesses, which removes the need for several tools for different material sizes.
Stabilisation system for cutting
The design allows the log to be raised above ground level and locked in a stable position. This eliminates the risk of the chainsaw guide bar becoming pinched, which happens when cutting timber lying directly on the ground.

How to use the log lifter
How to check compatibility with the log
Before use, measure the diameter of the log at the point where you intend to grip it. The tool handles diameters up to 380 mm. With irregularly shaped timber, choose a gripping point where the hook can take hold of the log at a stable spot, away from knots that could weaken the grip.
Safety when cutting
Once the log has been lifted, check that it is held securely before starting the saw. The timber should be raised at least 10–15 cm above the ground, which lets the saw chain run freely without touching the soil. Do not overload the tool with logs that exceed its specifications.
Maintenance after use
After finishing work, clean sawdust, resin and dirt from the lifter's mechanism. The moving parts can be lubricated periodically with maintenance grease. Storing the tool in a dry place prevents corrosion of the steel structure.
