A monoblock spanner with a 1/2" drive for fitting threaded unions, radiator valves and installation unions. This tool features cutouts on both sides and is made from chrome vanadium (CRV) steel, designed to work with the five most common union sizes.
The 1/2" square drive allows you to work with a ratchet, torque wrench or cross-type socket. It enables controlled tightening of valves and unions to a specified torque, which prevents damage to threads and seals.
The chrome vanadium alloy offers increased hardness and resistance to mechanical wear. This material retains its properties even during intensive work with the hard brass and steel components typical of plumbing installations.
The spanner covers the following sizes: 3/8" (9.6 mm), 29/68" (11.6 mm), 1/2" (12.6 mm), 21/32" (16.4 mm) and 27/32" (21 mm). This removes the need to own a set of separate spanners for the various union diameters used in plumbing and heating installations.
The cutouts on both sides of the spanner work with unions that have mounting lugs. This design provides a secure grip and even transfer of torque to the component being fitted, minimising the risk of the tool slipping.

Before starting work, measure the outside diameter of the union or check the imperial marking on the component. The spanner has five working openings that correspond to the standard union sizes used in installations. The cutouts on both sides work with lugs of various spacings, typical of brass and steel components.
Fit the monoblock spanner onto a ratchet or torque wrench by pushing it onto the 1/2" drive square. When working with radiator valves, use a torque in line with the valve manufacturer's recommendations, typically in the range of 30-50 Nm for brass connections.
After use, clean the tool of any contamination and protect it with a thin layer of maintenance oil. CRV steel is corrosion-resistant, but prolonged contact with moisture can lead to surface oxidation. Storing the tool in a dry place extends its service life.
The 1/2" drive monoblock spanner works with torque wrenches, allowing valves and unions to be tightened precisely. This is particularly useful when fitting thermostatic valves, where exceeding the torque can damage the internal mechanism or the threads in the radiator body.
