24x27 mm sizes
The double-ended spanner offers two sizes in a single tool, which removes the need to constantly swap spanners during work. The 24 mm and 27 mm sizes cover the common nut diameters found in plumbing systems, vehicle mechanics and steel structure assembly.
Satin surface finish
The satin finishing process gives the surface a matt texture that minimises light glare during work and makes dirt easier to spot. A satin surface is less prone to visible scratching than polished chrome, which keeps the tool looking good over a long service life.
Chrome vanadium steel
The material of construction provides suitable surface hardness while maintaining a flexible core. The addition of vanadium increases wear resistance and allows higher torques to be transmitted without the risk of the spanner jaws deforming. The chrome layer protects against corrosion in a workshop environment.
Double-ended design
Two jaws in one tool increase functionality and reduce the number of spanners needed in a basic workshop kit. The symmetrical design allows work in confined spaces where access from one side may be difficult.

Matching the spanner size to the nut
The size of an open-ended spanner corresponds to the across flats (A/F) dimension of the nut or bolt head – that is, the distance between opposite sides of the hexagon. Before starting work, check that the spanner jaw sits snugly against all faces of the nut. Clearance between the spanner and the nut rounds off the corners and makes it impossible to undo later with a standard tool.
Use and maintenance
An open-ended spanner should be placed onto the nut or bolt head so that both jaws make full contact with the working surfaces. Force should be applied towards the open side of the spanner, which minimises the risk of the tool slipping off. After working in a damp environment or in contact with chemicals, wipe the surface of the spanner with a dry cloth and protect it with a thin layer of machine oil.
An open-ended spanner must not be used as an extension for other tools, nor should pipes be fitted over it to extend the lever arm. Exceeding the permitted torque may permanently deform the jaws. For seized threaded connections, penetrating oil and impact tools designed for such applications should be used.
