Technical features of the YATO YT-0380 open-end spanners
Chrome vanadium CrV steel
A material characterised by increased resistance to wear and deformation. The addition of vanadium improves mechanical strength and resistance to brittle fracture when working on seized fasteners.
HRC 42-48 hardness
This Rockwell hardness range provides a balance between flexibility and resistance to abrasion. Values below 42 HRC could lead to deformation of the jaws, while values above 48 HRC could cause cracking under load.
Polished working heads
The smooth surface of the jaws minimises play when engaged with a nut or bolt, reducing the risk of rounding off the edges of the fastener. It also makes work easier in areas with limited visibility.
DIN 3110 compliance
A German standard specifying dimensional tolerances, jaw opening angles and minimum torque values. It guarantees compatibility with metric fasteners in accordance with ISO standards.

How to choose the right open-end spanner size
The spanner size corresponds to the width across flats of the nut or bolt head, measured between opposite edges. For metric bolts: M6 requires a 10 mm spanner, M8 – 13 mm, M10 – 17 mm, M12 – 19 mm, M14 – 22 mm, M16 – 24 mm. Using a spanner of the wrong size will damage the fastener.
Use and maintenance
Open-end spanners should only be used on nuts and bolts of the corresponding size. Check the condition of the jaws before starting work – nicks, rounded edges or deformation mean the tool must not be used. Do not use extension bars to increase leverage – exceeding the design torque may cause the spanner to crack.
After use, clean the spanners of oil, grease and dirt. Store in a dry place, protected from moisture that causes corrosion. Do not expose them to direct high temperatures – this may alter the material structure and reduce hardness.
Personal protection during work
When working with open-end spanners, wear protective gloves to protect your hands from injury. When working on components under mechanical load (springs, pressurised hydraulic systems), wear safety glasses. Do not work with damaged or corroded tools.
