A hand-held sharpening stone made of corundum with an elongated, oval shape. Designed for maintaining the blades of scythes, knives, secateurs and other cutting tools on farms, in gardens and in workshops.
Corundum is a hard ceramic material (aluminium oxide) with a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale. It removes material from the blade effectively while maintaining a uniform grain structure, which translates into the durability of the stone and consistent sharpening results.
The elongated oval shape, 225 mm long, allows a firm hand grip and provides a large working surface. The profile has no sharp edges, which reduces the risk of injury during use and makes it easier to guide the stone along the curve of a scythe blade.
The stone is suitable for sharpening tools with different blade geometries – from flat knives and secateurs to curved scythes. A single size is enough for most maintenance work in the home and garden.
The 225 mm length strikes a balance between working surface and handling. The stone fits in an apron pocket or tool bag, making it easy to carry to the field or garden during seasonal work.

Guide the stone along the cutting edge of the scythe from the base to the tip, keeping a constant sharpening angle (usually 20-30 degrees). Before use, wet the stone with water, which makes it easier to remove debris and prevents the blade from overheating. After use, clean the stone with water and dry it.
Wear protective gloves when sharpening to avoid cutting yourself on the sharp blade. Move the stone away from your body, keeping a stable posture. The tool being sharpened should be securely clamped or held in a way that rules out uncontrolled movement.
