The KD5216 is a petrol chipper shredder for branches, leaves and straw from KRAFT&DELE, powered by a four-stroke OHV engine with a displacement of 389cc. The machine runs independently of mains electricity, which makes it useful wherever there is no socket or where a power cable would be a limitation — in remote parts of the garden, in a meadow or on a farm.
Key features
389cc Four-Stroke OHV Engine
An overhead valve (OHV) engine uses less fuel and oil than two-stroke units and produces lower exhaust emissions. The 389cc displacement and 13hp output allow continuous, heavy-duty work with hard wood without overloading.
HSS Steel Blades
High speed steel (HSS) retains its hardness and sharpness at the elevated temperatures generated during intensive shredding. The blades resist wear and deformation better than standard structural steel, which means longer working intervals between sharpenings.
Belt Drive
The power transmission system based on a V-belt acts as a shock absorber — if an obstruction is hit (e.g. a stone hidden among the branches), the belt can slip instead of transferring the impact to the cutting mechanism or the engine. This reduces the risk of serious mechanical damage.
Mobility and Steel Construction
The steel frame provides stability during operation, and the transport wheels allow the machine to be moved without lifting it. The robust housing shields the cutting wheel and drive components from dirt and accidental impacts.

Note on throughput
The stated throughput range of 1,000–5,000 kg/h depends on the type and moisture content of the material. Dry, thin branches and leaves reach the upper end of the range. Fresh, thick hardwood limbs (oak, ash) reach the lower end. When working regularly with hard wood, it is worth allowing cooling breaks every 1–2 hours.

Use and maintenance
Before the first start-up, check the engine oil level (1.1 l capacity, 10W-30 oil recommended) and fill the tank with unleaded petrol. The engine is started manually with the recoil cord — before pulling the cord, set the choke as described in the operating manual.
During operation, feed material into the blades gradually, without forcing it in. Branches with soil or stones should be cleaned before shredding — mineral contamination accelerates wear on the HSS blades. Regular inspection of the drive belt (tension, wear) and cleaning of the cutting chamber after each working session extend the service life of the machine.
The manufacturer recommends changing the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation (engine running-in) and thereafter every 50 hours or once a season. The spark plug supplied with the kit is a spare for the first season of use.
