The KD3074 is a socket fusion welder designed for joining pipes and fittings made from thermoplastics — polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) and PVC. The machine heats the outside of the pipe and the inside of the fitting at the same time, producing a durable, leak-free joint without adhesives or seals. Supplied with four pairs of heating bushes and a carry case.
The high power rating means the heating bushes reach welding temperature quickly. This shortens the wait between joints, which matters on larger installations.
The PTFE (Teflon) coating stops molten plastic sticking to the bush surface. This means the pipe and fitting come apart easily after heating, and the weld surface stays clean and even.
Aluminium has good thermal conductivity, which spreads heat evenly across the whole working surface of the bush. It is also lightweight, which makes work in confined spaces easier.
Simple to use — the temperature is set with a single dial, with no programming needed. The range up to 300°C covers the requirements for welding PP and PE pipes to typical installation standards.
Socket fusion welding (also referred to as socket or butt welding) works by heating the outside of the pipe and the inside of the fitting (socket) at the same time until the plastic reaches its plasticising temperature — typically around 260°C for PP. Once removed from the bushes, the two parts are pushed together in line. The molten plastic fuses into a single mass, creating a joint with strength comparable to the solid pipe material. No adhesives, seals or mechanical fittings are used.

The KD3074 is designed for joining thermoplastic pipes and fittings by socket fusion. The diameters it handles (R16–R32 mm) are the sizes most commonly used in building services.
Before buying, check the outside diameter of the pipes used in the installation. The designations R16, R20, R25 and R32 correspond to pipe outside diameters in millimetres, in line with standard PN-EN ISO 15874 (PP pipes) and PN-EN 12201 (PE pipes). Pipes of these diameters are standard in building services. For larger diameters (e.g. R40, R50 or R63 mm) you will need a machine with the appropriate bushes or a butt fusion welder.
Before first use, fit the correct pair of heating bushes for the diameter of the pipes being joined and set the temperature with the dial. How long the bushes take to reach working temperature depends on the setting and the power of the machine — at 2800 W it is relatively short. Never touch the bushes with bare hands while in use — the working surfaces reach temperatures of up to 300°C.
When you have finished, unplug the machine and let it cool down before packing it away in the case. PTFE-coated bushes should be cleaned with a soft cloth only — metal brushes or sharp tools will permanently damage the coating and reduce weld quality. Storing the machine in the supplied case protects the bushes from mechanical damage and dirt.
