Pipe Vice 1/2" - 2" VOREL 36570
A pipe vice designed for holding steel, copper and plastic pipes during machining operations. The cast iron body and prismatic hardened steel jaws provide a secure hold on pipes from 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter.

Cast iron body
The cast iron construction withstands the mechanical loads and vibration generated when cutting or threading pipes. This material keeps the mounting stable and minimises the risk of the workpiece shifting.
Prismatic hardened steel jaws
The prismatic shape of the jaws spreads the clamping force evenly across the pipe surface, which prevents deformation. Hardening the steel increases resistance to wear during frequent use.

Use and maintenance
Mounting the vice
The vice should be bolted to a sturdy workbench using the mounting bolts. The mounting surface must be flat and level so that the pipe axis is correctly aligned during work. Checking that the mounting is secure before starting work prevents movement under load.
Choosing the clamping force
Steel pipes can be clamped with greater force, whereas copper and plastic pipes need to be tightened more carefully to avoid deformation. With thin-walled pipes, increase the clamping force gradually and check the condition of the surface as you go.
Maintaining the jaws and mechanism
After finishing work, clean swarf, dust and material residue off the jaws. The clamping mechanism needs periodic greasing with multi-purpose grease, especially where the tool is used intensively. Checking the jaws for wear lets you spot when they need replacing at an early stage.
