Pipe Vice 60 mm YT-6510 YATO

The YATO YT-6510 pipe vice is a workshop tool designed for securing and stabilising pipes during plumbing, metalworking and assembly work. Its malleable cast iron construction and hardened steel jaws deliver durability and a secure grip on the workpiece.

Maximum diameter60 mm
Body materialMalleable cast iron
Jaw materialHardened S55C steel

Features of the pipe vice

Malleable cast iron construction

The malleable cast iron body resists impacts and mechanical overload. The material combines vibration-damping properties with resistance to cracking, which matters under intensive use in workshop conditions.

Hardened S55C steel jaws

S55C is a carbon structural steel with a carbon content of approximately 0.55%. Once hardened, it reaches a hardness that resists wear and deformation. The grooved jaw surfaces increase friction, preventing the pipe from rotating during work.

Clamping range up to 60 mm

The maximum diameter of 60 mm covers standard pipe sizes: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2" and 2". The clamping mechanism allows the clamping force to be adjusted progressively, making it possible to work with different wall thicknesses and materials.

Clamping mechanism

The geared screw system distributes the clamping force evenly along the full length of the jaws. The design minimises the risk of deforming thin-walled pipes and allows precise positioning of the workpiece before work begins.

Applications of the pipe vice

  • Plumbing and drainage systems – securing pipes before cutting, threading and welding
  • Gas installations – stabilising pipes while joining and sealing threaded connections
  • Metalworking – holding pipe components during machining
  • Automotive workshops – clamping exhaust systems, fuel lines and brake lines
  • Assembly work – stabilising pipe structures during welding
  • Pipeline maintenance – removal and replacement of damaged pipe sections
  • Construction work – installation of pipework in residential and industrial buildings
  • Plumbing overhauls – repair and upgrade of existing pipe systems

Use and maintenance

Mounting and positioning

Secure the vice to a stable work surface using bolts or clamps. The mounting surface must withstand the forces generated during clamping. Before starting work, check that the clamping mechanism operates smoothly and that the jaws are set parallel.

Correct clamping

Place the pipe between the jaws and tighten the clamping mechanism gradually until it is held securely. Overtightening can deform thin-walled pipes. When working with pipes of different diameters, check that the clamp is stable before starting work.

Tool maintenance

After work, clean the jaws of dirt, swarf and material residue. The screw mechanism requires periodic lubrication with a maintenance grease. Metal surfaces should be protected against corrosion, particularly when working in damp conditions or with galvanised pipes.
